Athas is a fierce and dangerous world. It is therefore not surprising that more powerful and different armor has being developed than on other worlds. Here is a sampling of such armor:
The Fi'Sta

Description: This Elven shield is intended to be used in missile and skirmishing rather than pitched battle. In addition to the normal AC benefits of a small shield such as it, it allows an the user to focus the sun onto his opponent. This is done due to a glass or in extremely rare cases metallic casing placed over the substance of the shield. Each round the user may make a dexterity check. If successful he has gotten the shield's glare at an angle directly into his opponents eyes, giving his opponent a -1 to hit. If the outer casing is made of glass, as it is in most cases, it is extremely fragile and the shield is totally ruined if an opponent ever misses by one and it does not make its saving throw as hard wood vs. crushing blow.
Sa'drek Armor

Description:This is a rare form of armor. It appears as any other armor, but it has been dyed black and has gained some special properties from various non magical treatments performed on it. It is has a -1 AC bonus over any other armor of its type, and due to several different resistance treatments used on it it grants wearers a +1 vs. electrical attacks and a +2 vs. acid. It is most often found in Nibenay.
M'areth armor

AC Improvement: +2
Description: This type of armor is usually found in Gulg. Built for use in the tropical forests of Gulg, it has some odd properties. It has a +2 penalty over other forms of armor of its type, but grants the following benefits:
+5% Move Silently
+5% Hide in Shadows
+2 vs. Fire attacks
+1 vs. Gas attacks
Thieves, Bards and Traders are affected as if they wore the next easiest armor to move in.
